Despite most of us across Australia spending far more time at home this year, you may not have got around to your spring cleaning or a deep clean of your house just yet (don't worry, we won't tell anyone). With spring in the air, now is the perfect time to deep clean your home and get ready for the warmer months ahead. In this article, we share some easy spring-cleaning tips to freshen up your home.

Clean your doormats
How often do you step onto your doormat every day? It's one of those things we often forget about as we quickly come and go from home, but doormats can gather a lot of dust and dirt. Depending on what your doormats are made from, you could hose off and air-dry your doormats or vacuum dust and dirt from inside mats.

Clean windows and windowsills
Your windows and windowsills can quickly gather dust, especially if you live in a high-traffic neighbourhood in the city. Start by opening the blinds on all windows and clean your windows with glass cleaner and a microfibre cloth or some old newspaper. Once you've cleaned your windows, wipe down your windowsills with a damp cloth. Lower your blinds or shades and wipe any dust off these surfaces too.

Refresh your kitchen sink
We wash dishes in our kitchen sinks every day, but what about washing the sink too? Use a mild detergent and a clean cloth to wipe down your kitchen sink. For slow drains, try using a specialised cleaner like Drano to clean the drain in your kitchen sink.

Wipe down your fridge
While you may already clean the interior shelves in your fridge regularly, you may not get a chance to clean the door shelves and drawers as often. Carefully remove the door shelves and crisper drawer from your fridge and wash in warm, soapy water.

Clean your oven
If your oven doesn't have a self-cleaning function, remove the shelves and clean each one in warm, soapy water. While the shelves are drying, you can clean the oven door with a non-abrasive cloth and some warm, soapy water or glass cleaner. Finally, clean the inside of your oven carefully with a soft cloth to remove any food build up and stubborn grime.

Sure, deep cleaning your home can be a big exercise, but the time spent tending to your home is worth it when you can relax in your freshened-up home environment. If a deep clean of your home feels like too much to do in one day or weekend, you could pick a part of your home to start with to enjoy some of the benefits of a super clean home now. What's not to love about that?
